[b]I use to raise and sell them...until I figured out people weren't smart enough to own them! ha ha! All the pics I posted..yes...I did raise those...Waldo...the Hyacynth Macaw was very special to me..there is a cute story that goes with him...First of all is full name is Ralph Waldo Emerson..he was so beautiful..he needed a beautiful name..well..this is about a $10,000.00 bird (back in 1998) and I raised him for the first year of his life (which is normal for a bird like this) and a guy flew in from Atlanta, Georgia to see him, spent the day with us and fell in love with Waldo and decided to take him back to Atlanta...we go to the airport together and Waldo is in his carrier and we come to the "check in" area and this lady says"Mam, you are going to have to take that bird out of the carrier...okay i said...proceeded to get him out...she took one look at him (and his beak) and immediately said "you can put him back now"...well we get to the plane and they tell the guy who bought Waldo..that he would have to buy an extra seat because his carrier wouldn't fit under the seat (Waldo was about 4ft. long from tail to beak)...well...no problem..he bought Waldo a first class ticket right beside him and once they were in the air the airline attendant asked to see him...the rest was history...he stayed out the whole flight and delighted all the other passengers...but the bittersweet point for me was as his new "dad" carried him away..Waldo was looking right at me and said "mama"...and needless to say...I broke down and had to leave...Well...it was a cute story as I sit here with tears in my eyes remembering that sweet moment...Okay..enough of that!
