My first thought was that Guy was ill. The second was that maybe his children needed him for something..a family problem. And of course as we all probably thought..another baby. Which would be great of course!

But I did think that maybe he was leaving and David would come back. I was kind of hoping not because I had a feeling I'd miss this Gaither concert. But because my first email didn't say dp was going to be there; I thought, "well at least I won't miss David."

It'll all happen for a reason. And I think we all have a lot of wonderful things in store :!: biggrin.gif

Let me say this about that. Somebody certainly did a good job of keeping Guy's decision secret all of this time! At first I suspected he was just taking time off to add a room or two or three to his house. But by January I was starting to suspect that something was "wrong" somewhere, most likely a serious illness. I didn't see ANYTHING in yesterdays blockbuster announcement coming.

Referencing DP's post GVB solo career as a discussion point, Guy will have to get his own website going (guypenrod.com is registered to Gaither but there is no site) he'll have to hire a manager, a road manager, hire and rehearse a stage band, choose the standard concert song list. Or maybe this will all be a family affair? He certainly has the personnel on hand to do that!

How right you are Bill...To keep something like this under cover is quite a feat!!! I was beginning to wonder, after the first of the year and no word, about Guy's health...and praying that wasn't it....But never saw this coming!!!
Now reflecting...there just might be something to "Guy Being Tired" ..With the family life at home the demanding schedule of the Homecomings and The GVB it may have been becoming too much...This also may have given Bill a chance to try out some new sound and combination with the GVB and watch the fans reactions. If Guy does go solo I wonder if it will be a much scaled down schedule.....and as you mentioned with the size of his family...It could well be a family endeavor !!! Whatever path he chooses...Prayers for Guy and his family !! Just thinking out loud tongue.gif tongue.gif

Apparently some "in the industry" knew that Guy wasn't coming back...
here's some info from the same blog that did the recent interview with Wes.

Here is some more infor on Marsh too.

Emily Sutherland of Gaither.com wrote this on her blog today.:

“In spite of all the mixed emotions you probably feel, I do want to tell you that I spoke with Marshall today and I’m anxious for you all to hear from him. I’ll work on that, but in the meantime, you need to know that he says performing on-stage has never been his “sweet spot” (though he has done an incredible job of stepping up to the plate for the Vocal Band)! His true love is leading worship… and he is very much looking forward to finding the right situation where he can do that. He is not mad, and he is keeping in touch with Bill as they work together to make this transition smooth and positive. More on that later.”

Judging from this sentence in particular, “He is not mad, and he is keeping in touch with Bill as they work together to make this transition smooth and positive,” that certainly seems to be the case.

Wish I could figure that one out. His leaving is almost more sad to me than Guy’s departure. To me, it is very likely that it’s just Guy’s time and season for him to move on. It’s increasinly disappointing about Marsh.
