Hey y'all!
1. www.guypenrod.com used to feature a picture of Guy holding a pen or something. I presumed it was going to be used in the future. It has since gone inactive.
2. I as well thought that something was up with the "sabattical" that seemed to last into the new year. Now we know.
After catching his breath he may join the solo circuit and maybe like Russ Taff will come out to a Homecoming concert or two and do a few songs. He probably doesn't need the cash flow and will design a solo career that fits into his time table. Maybe he will do an album with some of his family.
Remember he has a large family and even with hired help and the resources that they surely must have a family of that size is a lot to be responsible for. I have five children and there is a lot of emotions and attitudes to manage with what I have. It would be even harder if I was gone each weekend from Thursday morning to early Sunday morning for ten months of the year. Add to that the rehearsal and recording and taping time and the cruises, what seems to be an easy life is actually in fact probably very difficult.

Let me say this about that. Somebody certainly did a good job of keeping Guy's decision secret all of this time! At first I suspected he was just taking time off to add a room or two or three to his house. But by January I was starting to suspect that something was "wrong" somewhere, most likely a serious illness. I didn't see ANYTHING in yesterdays blockbuster announcement coming.
Referencing DP's post GVB solo career as a discussion point, Guy will have to get his own website going (guypenrod.com is registered to Gaither but there is no site) he'll have to hire a manager, a road manager, hire and rehearse a stage band, choose the standard concert song list. Or maybe this will all be a family affair? He certainly has the personnel on hand to do that!
