As the radio stations begin to play Christmas music this season, I have to say that I have found myself switching the stations very often. Especially when "O Holy Night" is being sung.
David.....you have spoiled me with that song! No one else comes even close to how you sing it! I just can't bring myself to listen to any other artists' version.

Now if only the radio stations would play YOUR version more often....................

Its weird i find myself not liking my church music as much after hearing all his songs. Even when it comes to christmas music. That one wintry night cd is genius. From the background singing to all the little extra instruments. I have been playing drums for 15 years and i still find some of the stuff he does surprising. I mean the song one wintry night and how he looks at it. everyone looks at chirstmas as quite and peaceful but he looks at it like its mass confusion and the people heaven and hell are walking around going out of its mind wondering why he is doing this. And the singer, I actually wrote a paper on this song for one of my music classes, genius metaphor of how everything is Gods song and that even with us is still singing for us. I have heard a lot of music in my life, but I would be glad to say to anyone that his one wintry night is all and all the best cd i have ever heard. To be honest I listen to it in the summer.

I agree, Gretchen!! I am spoiled, too!! It was so fitting to also see David close the GVB concert with "O Holy Night"!! Nobody can sing it like our David! biggrin.gif

I like David's version also. The live performance on the Christmas in the Country video and the version he sings on his Joy Joy album are wonderful. I also like hearing him sing Do You Hear What I Hear. Both of these are my favorite Christmas songs.

Gretchen, that's why I am making a list for David!!! ha ha Because if I can get him to record every song I like I won't ever have to listen to a mediocre voice sing them again! LOL JMHO, but after I heard David's voice....most all the other voices just seem .....well......blahhhhhhhhh! Don't get me wrong, I still love a lot of different artists and enjoy listening to them, but there are no other voices that compare to David's....he truly is in a league of his own!

How's it feel at the top up there David? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Funny, I feel the same way, about Sandi Patti's version. Sorry Phans, this is one song where everytime I hear it, I compare it to David Clydsdale's orchestration and Sandi's voice (of course that was when it was in it's prime).

Even Josh Groban's version is not nearly as good as David's and they play that all the time on the radio here and I always think "I wish they would play David's version". Of course, I could be just a wee bit prejudiced, You think? I have lots of Christmas music here at the house but I find myself listening to "OHN" and "OWN" and "Joy, Joy" the most. Must be something about the quality of the vocals and vocalist. Kay

Since it's Christmas and we are supposed to be charitable I try to Forgive People who try to sing this song but face it, it's David's Song!
