That's one way of putting it. Back in October, my family and I left for a 5 hour drive around 12:30. We arrived at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center hotel around 5:30, and the concert started at 7. Great... We checked in, moved our stuff to our hotel room on the 9th floor, then mom and I got ready for the concert; changing clothes, doing hair, making sure we had all of our essentials, tickets, room key, etc. etc. We took the elevator down to the main floor, gave our tickets to the lady at the door who handed us our blue "Gaither Homecoming 2009" light keychains. We couldn't find section L3, I guess because the sign had fallen or something, so we ended up sitting in section L7, closest to the door. Same seats like we were supposed to, just different section, Row Q, seats 3 and 4. The concert began as you know, lights dimming, Buddy Greene or Bill opening the show, followed by another artist, maybe Lynda Randle, The Isaacs, Jeff and Sherri Easter and their daughter Melody, and so on and so forth. 15 minutes intermission, the lights dimmed again, and out came Bill, Wes, Michael, Mark and you, opening with "Alpha and Omega", followed by "At the Cross", and your "Nessun Dorma" solo. Bravo, by the way...

I'm not sure if you noticed or remember it or not, but halfway through "Lord, Feed your Children", someone in a couple of sections across from us stood up and yelled for help. Turns out that someone had a seizure. Within 5 minutes, that section was empty for the rest of the night. I think Wes might have noticed because he kept looking back and forth from that section to Bill with a face that said, "What is going on back there?" I think Bill caught Wes's eye, because he changed the song to "There's Something about that name". Gloria came out and did her monologue, and the minute she said, "Say that name with me, 'Jesus'", a holy hush filled the room. All of you (GVB) ended the night with, I believe, "Loving God, Loving Each Other." I called my sister to ask her to come downstairs to take my picture with you. She loves photography, and she's amazing at it. We waited in line to meet you, and when my turn came, I think all I said was "Could you sign this picture for me", and "Do you mind if I get one with you." I think you noticed how nervous I was.

My mom and I went upstairs for bed. A couple of hours later, my sister came in the room, climbed into bed and whispered, "Guess what?" "What?" I said. She said, "I rode the escalator with David Phelps!!" She told me the story of how she and her friends who were in town hung around after the crowd cleared, just looking at all the tables. She saw you with your luggage and maybe a friend walk past them, and get on the escalator to the second floor. She and her friends got on behind you, and hung back in the club there while you took a left, got on an elevator, and disappeared. She said that she almost followed, but didn't want to seem like a stalker. When she told me this, I laughed and joked, "That's my job!!" I hope you come to my neck of the woods soon for a solo concert!! Please?
