Janette have left the room for a little bit, so I'm taking over the computer. Ooops they just returned! I'll have to be good now!
For all you detail people out there, I'll be a bit more wordy, as you know I can be!
My day started off yesterday at 5 in the morning! I had lots of stuff to do to get ready for our adventure. Plus, my dogs expected to get up at 5!
I got to Janette's about 11:30, and we were off! Went to pick up Ashton, and off we went! This time Janette did have printed out instructions of how to get here, so the "Navigator" was on the ball! Janette, of course, will have a different take on this, I'm sure!
She is quite the driver, and we made good time, when we weren't stuck behind a red 18 wheeler! There were lots of those, so there were some moments of stress. But, we made up for it when we could pass!
I want it noted that I got her off on the right exit, and saw the motel, so we arrived without fanfare! Ashton was listening to her tunes in the back seat, and I was crocheting a special gift for Andrea! But, I kept my eye on the road!
We had plenty of time to get to the church, and left about 6. Our hotel is about 5 miles from the church, but it was difficult to get there. As always, we had our challenges in getting there. LOL Again, not my fault, but the Yahoo directions named streets that don't exist on the street signs! So, between one way streets, and streets not named as they were on the instructions, we took about 30 minutes before we finally got there!
The church is beautiful, and the street actually dead ends into the church! Janette has some good pics of the church, so you can see how pretty it is. And the folks there were so friendly and helpful. Although there were several people already when we got there, they weren't in line, but sitting in sofa's drinking coffee and visiting. So, we took the advantage, and got right in the front!
I have to tell you something sweet about Janette. For all our razing, she has a generous and loving heart. She had an extra ticket for the evening performance, so she gave it to the kind folks at the Will Call table. After we had visited with folks, an elderly gentleman with a walker came out and approached the ticket table. We weren't really paying attention, but they had given him the ticket that Janette had turned in. He came over to us and asked us how much she wanted for the ticket, and she told him that he could just have it. He was sooooo thankful, and it made our hearts feel good to see the joy in his heart at getting a free ticket.
While we were standing in line, we met a sweet young couple from LA, named Shane and Melissa. He said he comes to the website every day, but had never been to the board! We told him to join, so hopefully he will read this. They have been phans for a long time, and told how their baby son was weaned on DP! He was about 18 months old when they needed to wean him from his bottle, and they would always put on the LoL DVD, and he would settle right down, cuz he loves dp too! This was their first time they had seen David solo, so they were really excited! I hope they will join the board. They were a sweet couple.
Also, while we were standing in line, TexasGirl, Marsha, came up and introduced herself. She recognized me, since Janette doesn't look like Gerard! She's a hoot, and we enjoyed meeting her. She and her friends sat right behind us, so we enjoyed a fun time before the concert. They had spent a long time getting there too, and have some navigational problems too. I'll let her tell about their experiences. Marsha, I hope we get to meet up again!
The concert was phenomenal! There was a full orchestra, and this is the honest truth - I have been to the Myerson to hear one of the best Orchestra's in the country, The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and believe me they had nothing on this orchestra! It was so rich, and full, and perfect! We were close enough to reach out and touch them, and all that beautiful music just washed over us. They did an Overture- A Christmas Festival, and I thought how wonderful to have David singing with them, but then, out came the choir! The ladies all had long black dresses with identical beaded, sparkly evening jackets, that sparkled gold and silver. They were beautiful! And the men all had formal tuxedos, and looked resplendent! (How do you like
that word!) As the orchestra ended their Overture, the choir joined in with a Christmas medley "Angels We Have Heard On High, "How Great Our Joy" and "The Birthday of the King". It seemed that the angels in heaven were singing with them! It gave us chills. They did 5 more songs that were just so beautiful, and included a children's choir. They were so sweet, and sang so sweetly! Just precious!
Then, David came out, and the place just erupted in applause and joyful noise! He started out with The Singer, and to hear that with the orchestra playing with him was indescribable! I can't think of words to fully describe it!
He continued on with each one to perfection. Some the choir sang along with, and other's it was just the orchestra, and sometimes, just Jack! I loved "If Christmas Never Came". David just had this far away look on his face as he contemplated the scenario of no Christmas. Amazing!
And, of course, by the time he got to O Holy Night, the tears were welling up in my eyes, and falling unchecked down my face! As he sang, he looked at us several times, and sang right to us! So wonderful!!!
He did 2 different sets, with the choir and orchestra in between. As I sat there, I was just so thankful to know that we get to see it 2 more times!
Afterwards, we waited to talk to David after the crowd had thinned out. I had worn a Christmas jingle bell necklace, so when we went to talk to him, I told him that I wore it to worn him when Janette was around. I had heard of the trouble she got into up in Maryland! He laughed! I told him that I have several of my 6th graders coming to the Denton concert, and he said he will be pleased to meet them. Maggie and Maddie, (Sherri's daughter) will be there, so my kids will love meeting them. He said they would be happy to meet them too.
We didn't see Sherri from the board. Were you there? Or maybe we'll see you today!
I know I'm leaving some good stuff out, but today is a new day, and we'll have more memories from today.
We all have the new black One Wintry Night shirts, that we are going to wear, and hopefully we'll get pics of us all with David. We also want to get David, Q, and Jack while they are all dressed up! They looked really good!
So, that's it for now. We need to download the pics, and then it's time to go for the the next chapter!
Talk to you later!
