Where to begin??? Charlotte Ritchie, Gordon Mote, Gene McDonald, The Nelons, The Martins all started the concert off with a bang during most of the first half. Each and every one of those artists has a God-given talent which I praise God they are using in such a positive way.
The GVB started their set with One Voice (awesome!) which went into Where No One Stands Alone. I was so mesmerized with the show that I don't recall in detail the sequence of songs, but for the sake of this DP audience I'll tell you HIS highlights. Nessun Dorma, in my opinion, was better than ever. He's Alive game me goosebumps on top of my goosebumps. His signature ending of How Marvelous had a twist that I didn't expect (phabulous!). I was pleasantly surprised to hear O Love That Will Not Let Me Go and Michael gave DP a shout-out after the song for arranging it. I left on a high with his ending to It is Finished which had me singing myself to sleep.
One thing I've learned about Gaither concerts is that you never know what to expect. Just when you think you've got the song list figured out, or that you've heard just about every Mark Lowry joke out there....surprise! Mark was absolutely hysterical last night. He made several references to Bill's silver suit making him look like a baked potato. He made a reference to David's hair which I don't quite recall what it was other than it made me laugh. The GVB did a new song which obviously is a favorite for Michael because he was having a great time on stage twirling around and really getting into it. Can't wait to hear this new album!
What better way to spend a night with your favorite group than to have your fellow "groupies" there to join the phun?! It was so much fun to run into old friends at the venue and hang out at the tables with phriends who came into town for the show. I brought along a friend who was not familiar with any of the artists last night and she was AMAZED at the talent and how personable each artist was at their tables. I can comfortably say we have a new phriend in our group!
Now to the Barn Bash!!!
