Quitting Smoking

What's on your heart? Is it about you or someone you love? Big or small, wouldn't it be great to have a group of people praying for it? This is the place to lay it out.

Quitting Smoking

Postby kelleyl0824 » Wed Mar 28, 2012 9:26 am

Hi everyone! I have been smoking for about 30 years and have tried to quit about 5 times now...This time I am doing it with Gods help. I have committed to Him and surrendered myself to him completely. I would really appreciate all the prayers I can get on this though! The more support through prayer the more peace I will feel. I listen to Davids music which helps a lot..especially "Just as I am"..that song means sooo much to me! Especially now! Thank you in advance for your support!

I truly understand your pain and anxiety. I am a former smoker and the best advice I can give is to go to classes for support and remember that 1000 is not enough and one is too many. I found it helpful to sleep when I wanted to smoke and I started giving myself presents when I completed a week, month, year, etc.

Good luck to you phriend. I pray for your success! You will be so happy when you succeed. It WILL get easier!!!!!

I hope that these past few days have been a successful start to your new life, FREE of the control of cigarettes, Kelley. As a former smoker myself for more than 20 years, I can certainly attest to the difficulty of quitting AND to the tremendous sense of release when being free of the chains that used to bind me to them. Giving it to God is the best thing that you could possibly have done. I will continue to hold your success in prayer.

Blessings, Donna

I heard about a great remedy. I've never smoked, but I know people that do. You stir 1 part cream of tartar in a glass of orange juice, the next time you use the restroom, it flushes all the nicotine out of your system, therefore getting rid of the cravings. Good luck.

i smoked at least a pack a day, sometimes two for over twenty years. 5/31/2012 at 3pm, i will have been quit for one year. it wasn't the easiest thing i have ever done. i will definately pray for you
ending your marriage because the passion is gone, is like selling your car because it's run out of gas.

How are you making out, Kelley? My dad was a 3-4 pack A DAY smoker for years until he finally was able to quit. From the stories people tell, yes, it can be really, really difficult......be it is also really, really rewarding when you succeed. Hang in there!!!

(Besides--just think of things you could buy with the money you'll save-- that might help!! ;) )
