Update on my cousin

What's on your heart? Is it about you or someone you love? Big or small, wouldn't it be great to have a group of people praying for it? This is the place to lay it out.

I was in Houston last week and got to go see my cousin. He still can not move his left arm and has trouble with his memory. They are talking about sending him home on June 14th, but he still has a long road ahead of him. Please continue to lift him (PAUL) and his wife (Susan) up in prayer

Hey Koala!! ;) ;) My Mom had a massive stroke years ago when she was in her early 60's, and she was in hospitals for almost 6 months. I am here to tell you I will be so happy to continue praying. You're right--especially when strokes are severe, the main words are faith and perseverance. When Mom finally got back home, we used to joke that Dad "worked her like a Drill Sargent," and the doctors were totally amazed how unlike almost anyone else, Mom actually made MORE progress at home than when she was in the rehab hospital. (At the hospital, the way it ends up a lot of the time is that your 1 hour of rehab in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon is used up by just getting you into a wheelchair to get to the rehab main room and then the onto whatever equipment they may be using...and then the reverse with getting you back to your room. We used to comment how the 2 official hours of therapy quickly get reduced down to an actual mere 1 hour per day. Dad would put "poor" Mom through her paces a good 4-5-6 hours a day!! Every person is different, but Mom made absolutely remarkable progress, way beyond what the doctors had even hoped. 'Maybe a good thing to tuck away in the back of their minds when their spirits sag. :) )

BUT!!! I am telling you all this to let you know...to let them know...that there WILL be light at the end of the tunnel. Yes, there will be many days when it's hard to see it or feel it in your heart, but just KEEP ON KEEPING ON. We here will also add our support and love.

'Would love to have any updates in the future that you may be able to share with us. ;)

He is still improving. He will be moving to Touchstone Neurorecovery Center in Conroe ( 9297 Wahrenburger Road 77304) on Thursday. It is a step up in recovery but still provides physical, occupational, and cognitive therapy. His left arm is getting more movement and he rarely uses the wheelchair anymore.
I received the above email from his wife this week :)

Thanks so much for the latest update!! If you might be able to either post his last name plus what state he is in, or shoot me a PM with the info, then I could send him a get well card. Perhaps others could also. Prayers continue!!

I will be praying for your cousin and the family. Lauri was correct when she was talking about being a drill sergeant! They have to know that they have to do all the therapy they can. God bless you all. Alli
