Wednesday, Feb. 29th we were docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We all had decided last night to meet for breakfast at 9 am this morning. I slept in and ended up waking up around 9 am! Plus we had turned our clocks ahead one hour for Atlantic time! Alison & I ate breakfast together around 10 am. Gordon Mote had tweeted that he was glad they had the day off. Since we were in a US territory, I received my text messages and could send texts. Karen joined us, as we disembarked from our ship. We saw Gordon and Jeff Taylor walking toward town. I said, “I’m glad you guys are getting the day off!” Gordon turned toward me and said, “We are too!” Karen talked to him and then wanted her picture taken with him. He asked me where I was from and if I followed him on Twitter. We told Jeff Happy Birthday and he said they were going to meet someone. We saw them again with their friends, shortly after this. Jeff said, “Uh, oh!” when he saw us again, but we didn’t stop them again. We walked around the old fort walls at San Juan, Puerto Rico near the water to see the entrance into the harbor. Karen joined us. The sun was so hot here that I got sunburned on my shoulders. We walked around town, too. We saw Gordon again, eating in the hotel with his friends. Alison spotted Russ waiting in the sun looking at his cell phone, standing next to a building. We crossed the street to talk with him. He was waiting for Tori and standing in the sun, “to get some sun on my face.” He said Tori was in a store across the street, just as she came out with Charlotte, their youngest daughter. Tori talked with Karen and Alison talked with Russ. It was so great to finally meet Tori and Charlotte! Russ said he was looking for the Starbucks that was supposed to be close. He says he drinks coffee for the heat on his throat. I told him I had the coffee stories! We told him to let us know if he found Starbucks, since Alison likes Starbucks, too. We walked around and I bought some postcards at a gift shop. We met a girl working in a shop who loves Christian music when we told her about being with the Gaithers. She said they don’t play any good gospel music in Puerto Rico! I bought some water at Subway.
We went back to the ship for lunch. I got ready for dinner and the concert tonight, while Alison went back into town for awhile. Most of the artists had the day off today and went into town. Alison came back and said that she heard some people on radios waiting on Bill and Gloria as they came back to the ship. She also told me that she saw the Isaacs and the Phelps family when she got back on the ship. She said hi to Ben and as she went by David she put her hand on his back, so he would move out of the way. She said David’s T-shirt was wet and the kids were wet, so they may have been to the beach. One of the Isaacs asked David if he was going to the Country & Bluegrass concert tonight. He said, “No, that’s not my thing.” Lori laughed. Of course, the Isaacs were doing the concert!

We had a leisurely dinner tonight at 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm and Alison joined us. I ate a fresh fruit appetizer, French onion soup and turkey tonight. We all had something chocolate for dessert! I had the delicious molten double-fudge chocolate cake! Ken Davis did a comedy show for the red badge group at 8 pm. We had requested early dining, since we had booked our cruise early. Our dinner was usually around 5:30 pm and we were in the red badge group. The blue badge group had later dining & an early concert. The artists would eat between concerts. The blue badge group was finished with their concert and waiting in line outside the dining room to eat at 7:30 pm. We went right into the showroom and found a seat in the middle of the place. Ken Davis was hilarious! I laughed so much! Both the red and blue badge groups were invited to the Country and Bluegrass concert after the comedy show. We all left the showroom, so everyone would have a chance to get a seat again. I think everyone showed up! I decided not to stay, since I had a little headache, and went back to my room. It was announced over the PA system that the concert would be shown on TV in the rooms, since they had to turn people away. I was able to see some of the concert on TV. The Isaacs, Buddy Greene, Jeff Taylor and Bill Gaither did the impromptu concert. They had a lot of fun! The Hoppers joined the cruise today.

Thanks Ruth!!! I think the artists were thrilled to get off the boat and see the sites and shop themselves...we ran into Kevin at the fort and saw ME and Marcie out and about, and ran into Wes, Andrea and the boys shopping in town. I know what ya mean about the phones...was great to know we could use them there... when I called home my conversation sorta went...."hi..just checking in...nooooo we aren't in St. Maarten...we're in Puerto Rico...and I heard ......Puerto Rico???!!!! what are you doing in Puerto Rico?????....so of course I explained. It was great to have some phone service...think everyone checked back in on home while we were there. Lee, Judy and I had a great time in San Juan...really had a great driver and tour guide...parts of the city reminded me of St. Augustine, Florida.

I have to say I really enjoyed Ken Davis, he was great! I had only heard him do a little comedy on the Gaither videos.....found him to be very funny... also made me think about living fully alive :D

Thanks again for the review Ruth! Looking forward to the next!
