CURIOUS ABOUT YOUR JOBS

Postby roses » Fri Apr 27, 2012 4:35 pm

Hello everyone - While I feel like so many of you know each other pretty well, I am not "in the know" about what you all do for a living. I retired early from being a paralegal (medical malpractice defense) because of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue. I started out as a legal secretary. Life is so different for me now. I miss working and interacting with people on a daily basis. I have friends that are busy with their jobs, too. If you don't mind, I'd like to find out what you do so that I can know you better. I had a hard time at first when I left work and kept dreaming very often that I was trying to find my office and the building wasn't there anymore. I worked downtown Dallas in the 72 story building. I guess our identity can be a little tangled up with what we do as work when you've had the same job for a long time. I have been feeling so much better since I moved to Florida that I would like to volunteer at something such as gardening or working with animals. I have a dog, Dino, who is getting old and a cockatiel, Chewie . I have three grown sons, two of which are in Texas and one lives very close to me, and three grandchildren until my youngest son who is 32 and unmarried gets busy and meets the right one. So anyway, if it's none of my business, that's OK!

Well, I was let go from my Advertising Job in January....May 9th will be 5 months without a job.

BUT..

...I'm sitting here listening on head-phones to a scratch-playback of work I did today at a Studio in Meriden, CT...triple-tracked on everything.

It sounds like there's an ARMY of me.

AND...

There's a new Studio opening up right outside of Harford, CT....ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR STUDIO MUSICIANS / VOCALS.
I'm going to their "Open House" on May 5th.

They said via email that they want me to do some "on-site" demo vocals for them during their Open House.
8-)

Hi Dee,

I'm from Manila , Philippines and I am relatively new here. Got to (really) know DP only last year  but I heard his Unchained Melody a few years ago over the radio.
I am now engaged in "corporate giveaways", souvenirs, printing of shirts, and other promo items. I used to work for the Phil. National Bank as a credit/financial analyst. I retired early (after 10 years) then started this business. After my early retirement I had dreams of going to the PNB building and working :) :) :) . I must have missed my work and phriends there.
I intend to make myself a DP coffee mug. I hope David does not mind. I am aware of copyrights...intellectual properties issues :D . I'll make just one...just one.
My sideline work is introducing DP to my christian friends. I wish he'd come to asia one day...maybe singapore if not Philippines :D. I will surely watch him.

Thanks for your post...i finally got to know someone better.

God bless you always,
Maris

I am semi-retired from a job as an Office Manager at an insurance agency, but now am a Receptionist at a retirement community and I work about 10 hours a week. I really love my job and the people who live where I work. I have had many jobs after rejoining the work force when my children entered school. I worked at a radio station and then did some short-lived jobs while looking for what I wanted to do after my divorce. I was a Front Desk Manager at two different hotels while attending university part-time. Then, I worked as a Human Resources Assistant at a Turkey Processing Plant before joining the agency where I worked for 20 years. My Ex-boss and I still do lunch about once every couple of months after working together 20 years. I am also a mother of two grown children, a grandmother to two twenty-somethings, and soon to be a great-grandmother of one due in November. I don't see myself retiring totally until I cannot work any more (health-wise). Enough said! Kay
Formerly known as "Olderfan" and "Kay" and "disgusted" on my home computer and just "fosterchild" here at work. But, we are all the same person. Been here forever. Glad to be back! Kay
