Beautiful photo, Nora--thanks for that!!

The comment which comes closest to how I feel was by the host of a news/entertainment program (can't remember which one) who stated that "many people felt shocked...but not surprised." Of course, we're all assuming the cause will be found to be related to drug use as opposed to something else and, unfortunately, I think our suspicions will be found out to be true. Illegal drugs are so insidious--they rob you of so very, very much. My prayers continue for her family and loved ones.

Thanks Nora for the photo!! Beautiful!!
No offense, but I don't think we should jump to conclusions about what caused Whitney's death. Dorothy Dandridge was recovering when she passed and was only taking medicine that her Dr. had prescribed which would not have caused her death or maybe it did. I take all kinds of medicine and some can have bad side effects.
Then, it may well be all the years Whitney abused her body but I had rather wait until all the facts come in. That is what the coroner is saying too. The news said her autopsy was under security. Which they say is under investigation. So who knows what will come out.
I watched the Grammys last night only to hear what was going to be said about Whitney. I stayed up until 11:30 and was looking forward to hearing Jennifer Hudson sing Whitney's song. I was totally disappointed!! Sorry but Jennifer can not sing that well and I thought after hearing Whitney sing I Will Always Love You last night that should have been enough. Jennifer is no Whitney Houston!! It would have been better if they had went through a variety of Whitney's songs with her singing them like we have done here. Sort of like a Bio.
BTW, Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this tribute to Whitney Houston!!
The world has lost one of the best singers ever. I'm sincerely hoping it was Heaven's gain!! I do believe Whitney really did love the Lord.

call me weird, but I've never really been upset over the death of a public figure before till now, i mean not where i actually cried. its just that for so so many years she's been my favorite singer...my son even called to tell us cause he KNEW what a phan i was. he remembers hearing her stuff from being young. i played it all the time. its the way she SANG, ya'll...it was BRILLIANT.

have ya'll ever heard of kim burrell? she did an interview this morning and said that the day OF her death, whitney houston left her a message on the phone and she said you could hear gospel music playing in the background. i watched a lot of stuff about whitney houston yesterday and anyways its just very sad. i was especially her phan in the 80's and 90's but honestly, i even watched that show Being Bobby Brown, I was that big of a phan. My sister and I watched it and we would scream we would be laughing so hard...sorry but sometimes it was straight out FUNNY. somewhat tragic, but gosh it was hysterical sometimes.

i mean how many times have ya'll done duets in the car with whitney houston, i know i have COUNTLESS times in my life. or stood there with the hairbrush mic singing i wanna dance with somebody or any of the other ones...i had all those albums...gosh.

its so TRAGIC...but if she is in heaven, and i don't presume to know the spiritual condition of anyone, but i actually think she IS, then this story is really not as tragic as it seems.....as she is at peace now which I'm not sure she ever was before. And thats as far as you'll ever hear me speculate about a public figure as i really dont believe in doing that. But this was my favorite female singer for sure and quite possibly my favorite singer of all times....

and i think the Bodyguard is on Lifetime tonite...glad i got the day off, yay.

                RIP whitney houston.

I am still in shock by all of this. Whitney was a great singer and she will be missed. My prayers are with her family and fans.

We shouldn't assume anything about her death. But to tell you the truth I don't see what difference it makes. She was a human being with a great talent. We have no right to judge her.

                Your phriend,

                Diane

WOW - I've often wondered about that - how do you NOT let the pressure get to you....? :|

Don't get me wrong Lionel Richie is a great singer and I like him a lot but what is he talking about?
Sure we knew Elvis had problems. His life was right out there for everyone to see from the very beginning. Whitney was only 48. Not old enough to lose her voice without there being a problem. Of course there was a problem. Not about to speculate what the problem was whether physical or whatever. I know celebs in there 70s who can still sing. Look at Willie Nelson. I have seen him in MB. Stood right in front of him. He still puts on a great show!! 48 yrs. old is nothing. Whitney was still rather young. I don't understand what Lionel was thinking. I'm 59 and still can sing. So I don't get him. Whitney could have had a lot of good years ahead of her had she lived.
                        RIP Whitney
