angels, spirits or what?

Postby dsimons » Mon Jan 02, 2012 12:31 am

I am just curious what other people believe on this topic: When a loved one dies do they become angels, spirits, or something else. I always thought that they were our guardian angels, but recently I heard that angels have no soul. What do you believe? :?:

I do not believe our loved ones become Angels after they die. I believe Angels are beings created by God for his purpose. Such as Satan was before he fell. I do believe it is possible that God can use our loved one's Spirit to communicate with us. I mean God can do anything. So I assume He can do that. We can call them guardian angels but not really Angels, for one as I stated Angels are created by God for his purpose not like humans that are born.
I don't know why Angels wouldn't have souls. That is what makes beings who they are.
Anyway, those are my thoughts. Interesting subject !! :)

        I found this on www.gotquestions.org
I think it explains what you are asking very simply and clearly. Hope this helps.

Angels are beings created by God (Colossians 1:15-17) and are entirely different from humans. They are God’s special agents to carry out His plan and to minister to the followers of Christ (Hebrews 1:13-14). There is no indication that angels were formerly humans or anything else—they were created as angels.

Eventually, the body of the believer in Christ will die. What happens then? The spirit of the believer goes to be with Christ (2 Corinthians 5:8). The believer does not become an angel. It is interesting that both Elijah and Moses were recognizable on the Mount of Transfiguration. They had not transformed into angels, but appeared as themselves—although glorified—and were recognizable to Peter, James and John.

In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Paul tells us that believers in Christ are asleep in Jesus; that is, their bodies are dead, but their spirits are alive. This text tells us that when Christ returns, He will bring with Him those who are asleep in Him, and then their bodies will be raised, made new like Christ’s resurrected body, to be joined with their spirits which He brings with Him. All believers in Christ who are living at the return of Christ will have their bodies changed to be like Christ, and they will be completely new in their spirits, no longer having a sin nature.

All the believers in Christ will recognize one another and live with the Lord forever. We will serve Him throughout eternity, not as angels, but along with the angels. Thank the Lord for the living hope He provides for the believer in Jesus Christ.
The great thing in this world is not so much where you stand,
as in what direction you are moving.

            Hello!
I sometimes ask this question to my pastor ( in Germany wie say so) and he answers: the dead people will live among the alive people. I sometimes feel my dead aunt is near me. I hope you understand how I mean it because of my bad english... :?

If you have anything in mind Craig, I would be happy to listen :)
While I'm waiting for Craig, I got a couple. Does anyone here believe in reincarnation? My great-grandmother used to believe in reincarnation. I kind of think it is possible. I kind of hope it is possible too :) Also do y'all think most folks know when they are going to die. I do. I know my husband's mother said she was dying right before she died. A friend visited her at the hospital the day she was suppose to go home. The friend entered her room and asked her how she was doing. My husband's mother told her well I'm dying. Shortly after that we got a call and they told us she had passed away.

Great minds think alike. I was going to ask the same thing Linda. I do believe in reincarnation. I believe in spirit guides, and guardian angels. I've had too many experiences that I can't explain how I could have survived without God's help. I also think people know when they are going to die. I've lost too many loved ones not to believe this. My brother and my best friend were in comas before they died, but they seemed to hang on long enough for me to say good-bye.

I would like to know what other people think.

Just a quick response to your post Diane and then I hope others will jump in on this topic. I'm sure there are stories out there. My Dad was in a coma for two days. Everyone who was at the hospital (friends and relatives) saw him and or spoke to him and I believe in my heart he stayed till he said goodbye to everyone and then it was over. He was gone.
