A phriend reminded me that some on here might not be getting the Facebook updates about the fires currently burning in Colorado, so I thought I'd let you know what little bit I know.
The Koff family is fine and in no danger. We live on the plains side of Denver where there aren't any active fires. I still thank you for any prayers that you may have offered on behalf of the residents of Colorado. I'm blessed to be part of the Christian community in the world that cares so deeply for one another.
The worst fires are found north of Denver in Boulder, as well as the on-going High Park fire. Those are more mountainous communities and the fire fighters are working SO hard to get control of those. But we have had 105 temps this week and lots of wind that have made it extremely difficult. It will only be in the 90s for the next few days so hopefully that will help. No rain in the forecast, however.
Colorado Springs is in extreme danger. The Waldo Canyon fire has jumped over the lowest foothills on the west near the Air Force Academy. They are seriously in fear of it entering the main part of Colorado Springs. Homes are burning right now near the Garden of the Gods scenic area. Thousands of folks have been evacuated from their homes. And the firefighting forces are being stretched pretty thin.
